Davis: A practical approach:The challenge of figure drawing has been an integral part of the training of artists since the Renaissance. Experienced artists also find it beneficial to continue the practice throughout their careers. This is an opportunity to develop and tune up the eye, hand, and mind. A sequence exercises will examine shape, structure, light and shade, anatomy, balance, tension, movement, perception and the visual field.
Dornan: The ability to interpret and edit information while drawing from the human form is a critical and invaluable skill. Economy of mark making and clarity of form logic lay the groundwork for energy and freedom in one’s imagery. David’s class will start with monochrome pastel and then add tints and tones of color, providing the class members with a realistic avenue for “building” a painting.
