Doug received his Bachelors of Fine Art (University of Utah,1991) with painting and drawing emphasis studying under Paul Davis, Dave Dornan, Tony Smith, Doug Snow, Ed Maryon. He has gone on to become a full time painter living in Sunset, Utah.  He enjoys widespread representation by many galleries and has been the recipient of many awards. Doug has taught aspiring painters the craft of becoming an artist—a lifelong goal as elusive as enlightenment.

Statement: 
“I believe that there is a certain geometry and rhythm that may be some of the underlying influences. I am constantly looking for the balance between the abstract quality of a satisfying paint stroke verses the accumulation of paint strokes that add up the visual expression and hopefully then to some kind of an emotional experience for the viewer.  Teaching helps me learn what I already know.”
